A reply to an ask.com about early Christian persecution veracity

Interesting interpretation of a long held tradition.

On the site www.jesusneverexisted.com there are articles and references to the lack of evidence of a true Christian persecution. So I have been reading a bit more out of my own curiosity.

Some of the early North African and Anatolian Christian sects sound quit unreliable as the source of the persecution tradition. I was never taught that history in Sunday school.

The martyrdom even seems to be part of the belief in a manor not unlike Islamic traditions that start in the same 4th century era.

The Romans really do get a bad rap from the early Christians.

Furthermore, the Jews clearly brought the diaspora after the revolt in 70 AD on themselves. They assumed god would protect them and poked at Roman rule very unwisely. To me it is less of an underdog story and more of a belligerent and unreasonable insurgency.
